Okies!! It's been 1 month plus here in Brisbane already... I know I know... It's about time I updated my blog right? Yes this is me updating it okie??
I just hadn't had the mood to update my blog in sometime... anyways... Here's an update of what's been happening within this past month...
30 July 2005 - 12 August 2005Woke up and went for breakfast, when I came back to my room, I found that someone had left me a message on my phone. Seemed that my particulars were given to this person Martin Gomez who is person in Brisbane taking care of the interest of the Singaporean students studying... Called him back and he told me of a gathering happening at his place, so went over the next day...
The Meeting Of Uncle Martin and Auntie Christine (The Gomezes)
This was the start of my involvment in the Combined SSA (Singapore Student Association) Activities. When I walked into the house, straight away I saw a familar face... Wayne from back when I was in St Pat's... I knew then, that I would be right at home there... ahahah
There was a meeting then, I found out that there would be a Singapore National Day Ball the Saturday following Singapore's National Day and that some of the students woudl be putting up a dance and dikit barat performance... Joining them in the rehearsal, I expressed interest and was pulled into the performances... So fun... A Malay Dance, and Dikit Barat...
Another event I went for was the SSA's attempt to organise a MAMBO night in celebration of Singapore's National Day... It wasn't that bad... although it wasn't as Mambo as I thought it would be.... all in all the DJ just played like 5-7 retro songs and then went into TOP 40 hits, R&B, Techno and Trance...
Other than that, we all were just meeting up every now and then to practice and rehearse... In these times, I got to know this group of Singaporean Students much better and something told me that they'd be really good friends...
Rhonda, Ju-ann, Judith, Lysha, Priscilla, Mardiyah, Zhahia, Wayne, Robbie, Giddeon, Luke, Harnam, Allan and Maslan...
My college, BK, had a party,
SUPERHERO PARTY!!! AWESOME STUFF!! Really fun dressing upi and having fun with everyone and getting to know everyone living in the same college... Some picture to show you...

13 August 2005 - 21 August 2005Singapore Ball 2005 (Brisbane)
Venue: Holiday Inn
Time: 7pm onwards
Theme: 60's Theme
All of us performers were at the Holiday Inn pretty early to set the place up and rehearse and to get ready... It was a pretty awesome experience... You can really see the spirit of Singaporeans celebrating Singapore's National Day in another country... Everyone REALLY celebrates it and you can SO feel the pride when the National Anthem is being played and sung... A really awesome experience which I wouldn't trade for the world!!
Everyone at the Ball were all awe-struck by our performances to the point we became instant celebrities for the night... A few pictures here for you to see...

The next day we all gathered at Uncle Martin's place for a post-Ball party... We just hung out, ate and watched the videos taken at the Ball. I'm really glad I got to know these bbunch of people here in Brisbane... they've effectively become my overseas family... And I do believe that GOD had a hand in this, seeing as how I came to know them...
Went for mass on Monday. Day of obligation? Not here, casue they kinda change the days to suit their convenience... Anyways, I met someone whom I wasn't expecting to see... Vanessa Tan from church... Her family always sat in front of my family during mass back home in Singapore... lost touch with her and suddenly, here she is... Had dinner with her and then we got together with Rhonda, Luke, Giddeon, Wayne and Robbie to give Harnem a going away party...
The next event would be Jamie's 27th Birthday party on Friday... It was a USA party held at Uncle Martin's house again... ehhehe we always seem to be at his house whenever there's an event... hehehe It was a really fun party where Jamie had the shock of his life... all in the name of fun... We had a BBQ eating and being merry... after which we all went home...
The next 2 days were just relaxing days for me... YOu just have to relax sometimes for your own personel quiet time...
I know I haven't been talking about school at all in this entry... School has been picking up a bit (I HOPE!)... It's still very laid back, but somehow, I do have work to do already, but it doesn't bother me at all... It's so different from Singapore's education system... Here, there's a lot of time for you to study, rest and have a life and still have time for yourself... It's great...
